Overview:
Create a simple website that will serve as a resource for those interested in the transmission of affect. Drawing from a range of fields (e.g., advertising, rhetoric, psychology, sociology), give an overview of several theories of affect, and illustrate the way(s) in which their respective theorists considered affect to be transferrable. Next, demonstrate the relevance of affect transmission by summarizing several interesting examples in which affect was transmitted to a remarkable degree or effect (e.g., the October 1938 The War of the Worlds broadcast and resulting hysteria).
Specifics:
1) Begin by determining which theories and examples are the most interesting and relevant to students and other individuals interested in the transmission of affect.
2) Create an attractive home page that clearly displays links to each of the theories/events that will be discussed.
3) Craft several short and accessible accounts of each theory or event, and place each on it's own page
o First, provide an overview of the theory/event: who developed it? what does it say? which field is it associated with? is it still in use today?
o Next, zoom in on the way(s) in which the theory states that affect is transmitted
o Cite sources used, and provide a list of resources for further research
4) Link the website’s URL to a blog post and to your webfolio by the due date
Fantastic, Kim. You're on.
